Put a hat on it!

This particular outfit evolved from the time I put it on, went to church, came home and had just enough light left outside to shoot a few quick shots.  It was chillier than when I had initially left the house earlier in the afternoon so I threw on the faux fur vest I got at the end of last year (another clearance score from Vera Wang for Kohls)!  Then I saw the new hat I grabbed on one of my multiple Target trips as of late- are you surprised!? Haha!! Anyways, though the fur and the hat were a little too much for church, they added just the right touches to a comfortable but trendy look.  This sweater is an almost identical replica of the one at H&M that I’ve been eyeing for a few months and is a fraction of the price.   I have issues with buying too much black.  It never feels interesting enough for me but then I put it on and it just makes you look great.  So I broke my own rule this last week and not only bought the fringed sweater, but also a great mid thigh down coat (NYC trip in mind) and some KILLER above the knee boots from Top Shop that I should have any day- and they are all in black!  Hopefully I won’t get too bored with all the lack of color because I’m going to have to attempt to reign in my little splurges until after my Christmas shopping is done.

Wish me luck…

As of late you can find me layered and comfortable in my all too worn in Uggs and leggings.  I have been a little hesitant to try the wedge sneaker trend…I love the idea of them but always wonder if I am cool enough to sport them.  So, once again a productive outing to Target last week resulted in finding these fun burgundy suede ones on clearance! You all know how I am when it comes to Target clearance….its hard for me to walk away.  So, after some serious deliberation (i.e. texting my fellow buddy Candida from Merch Maven), they were purchased post haste.  The floral sweater was from another Tar-jay trip and has been on heavy rotation lately as an easy go to layer.  Chances are I’m going to find something worth taking home from that store, they’ve had such great stuff lately!

I am on the hunt for a few things for my up coming trip back east next month.  Since we won’t have much time to make outfit changes I’m thinking fleece lined leggings (I really want to find a faux leather version), that can be layered with dresses like this one, and sweaters and boots.  My beautiful bestie and her family are going to New York the week before me and we were able to meet up last week with our munchkins and to hunt for leather gloves.  I love shopping with her and don’t get to see her much anymore so it was fun to look for things for our trips together.

What are you all planning to wear as the weather starts to turn colder?  Have you braved the wedge kicks trend?? ;p  I hope you all have a great start to your week, thanks so much for stopping by.  Follow me on Instagram @Clichemoi and Bloglovin.

Hot mess…

Dress: Old Navy; Jacket: Vera Wang; Boots: Target; Necklace: Similar; Belt: Forever 21

Hey everybody!!  So I have had a serious case of not wanting to do ANYTHING lately, have you noticed?? Sorry its been a little bit on posting.  I think we all get in those funks where we are unmotivated, and in my case- uninspired, I literally have been living in work out clothes for the last two weeks and so I thought I would spare you all. ;)  Luckily yesterday I had to get out of my slump though because church requires a little more effort than my yoga pants and a beanie!  This is one of my favorite dresses, with the exception of warmer summer temps, it is a great year round piece.  I got it last year off the clearance at Old Navy.  Yesterday I was a little chilly and decided it was time to bust out the faux leopard jacket which I also got at the end of last year and has since been sitting in my closet with the tags still on it.  I felt like a bit of a mess but got lots of compliments…which I’m sure were all genuine but I also have really sweet friends LOL!!

On a more positive note, I booked tickets last week to go to NYC!!! EEEK!!! I’ve never been there before.  A last minute opportunity came up and it took me a few days to secure a last minute traveling buddy… but my sweet sister caved and will be going with me for 4 days next month to see the Big Apple at its holiday best.  I already have a list of things I want to do while we are there but I am looking for suggestions.  What should I not miss out on?  Hopefully we can take some good style pics to post here but be sure to follow me on Instagram @Clichemoi to see our day to day shenanigans!  I CAN’T WAIT!!!

I hope you all have a fantastic Monday!

p.s. Don’t mind my slip hanging out the bottom of my dress! Sigh.

Best laid plans.

Sweater Maxi Dress: Old Navy (Similar); Vest: Mural (Darling alternative here); Booties: Madden Girl (Love these); Bag: Philip Lim for Target.

We are officially heading into the holidays.  I remember when stores would wait until at least Thanksgiving to start putting out their holiday decor and such, but this year there are fully decked out Christmas Trees in Target right next to all the Halloween stuff.  I’m such a sucker for the holiday season,  there is something nostalgic about walking into a store all decked out for the season so no complaints here!  We got a little surprise this past week (the good kind) and it is looking like I am going to take a little short vacay in the next couple of months right before Christmas.  I already know where I would like to go (more to come on this later) but I’m curious what you all think.  If you could go anywhere you wanted, where would it be?

So yesterday I woke to grey, gloomy rain and a busy morning of preparing food and getting 3 little ladies ready for the children’s program at church.  Since I literally had about 10 minutes to get myself together and out the door after all the chaos mornings like this tend to bring, I knew that my trusty sweater maxi dress would be an easy pick. And it was!  I bought this dress at Old Navy a few years ago and loved it so much that I went back and snagged the cream and taupe one too.  Is there anything better than a dress that is cozy like a sweater but also stylish?  I don’t think so. The leather vest has been layered over just about every outfit I wore this past week.  The extra layer kept the chill out but also kept things edgy and interesting.  We were still our usual 10 minutes late for church but at least we made it there put together!! Right?! :0

Have a fab Monday Dolls!

It is Friday peeps!!  This outfit came together by complete surprise.  The red skinnies have been collecting a bit of dust as of late and I decided they needed a day out but I wanted to keep it on the simple side.  A little story about a grey and white checkered shirt: Once upon a time I got a killer deal on a classic checkered shirt and in true Sharon-form- a couple of wears later I shrunk it!  The end…right?! Nope!  Today I discovered that too-short shirts make perfect for tucking into skinny jeans without bunching!!  And that folks is how a new outfit is born WITHOUT even having to leave your own closet.  Moral of the story?  Don’t throw out a shrunken checked shirt in haste.
Hope you all have a great weekend and thanks so much for check-ing in!;)

Dress: Old Navy (on clearance!!!); Vest: Vera Wang (old); Shoes: Express (via my girl Mairin’s closet! Love these!); Necklace: BP; Watch: Michael Kors

Color blocking has stood the test of time and ever evolving trends over the last few years.  In my humble little opinion, it is a great way to class up your look but with a trendy flare!  I saw this sweet dress at Old Navy and instantly saw all the possibilities: early Fall wedding with wedges, tights and boots, floppy fedora; statement jewels- and so on.  Ironically enough though, it has sat in my closet with the tags still on it for over a month until I decided to pull it out for church on Sunday.  I wanted to get some use out of these great leopard heels my friend had lent me for my Vegas trip and was pleasantly surprised how not crazy uncomfortable they were considering the 4 inch stiletto heel.  Have I mentioned how much I LOVE leopard print everything!!!? ;)We have been enjoying 70 degree sunshine for the last few weeks but I always get chilly in our church building so I threw on a faux fur vest I grabbed from Kohl's last winter for some added texture and I was good to go!

How do you color block?

On a side note, if you follow me on Instagram @Clichemoi you saw my random late night Target selfie last night.  They have some really amazing outerwear right now and I am in complete L.O.V.E with the baby pink pea coat.  I bought a great floral tunic sweater and a fun statement necklace that I am excited to share with you guys.  I am also hoping to snag one of their boyfriend cardigans which are on sale for $15 right now!  And those are really just a few, I saw so much that I totally would not have mind walking away with!  Go check them out for some fun Fall pieces.

Alrighty gals!  Hope you all are having a great week.  Thanks for your support and sweet messages, they mean so much!!

Had a major UGH week last week.  I’ve completely abandoned my work out routine, ate a bunch of stuff I usually deem off limits, missed my own dance class…just call me a hot little mess! ;)  But to lighten up my mood I put on this sweet find of a sweater I snagged from Marshall’s recently which made bundling up for the chilly mornings a little more interesting.

In other more important news- have you heard of Top Shop?? Go check out their site for some great retail therapy. They have teamed up with Nordstrom's and you can find them now in a Nordstrom near you.  I currently love these:

Homecoming Edition.

So I know it's been a "few" years since I needed a Homecoming dress but its still always fun to see what the newest trends are each Fall.  So I thought I would lend a little help to any of you ladies needing some inspiration.  Here are a few of my picks which could also just be for a fun night out if you are a few years past going to Homecoming dances too!

(Nordstorms) Little black dresses are easy to find and look good on just about anyone!

(Nordstorms). I have a special place in my heart for red dresses- especially since my favorite homecoming dress
I wore was a little red number from Macy's.

(Revolve Clothing and Shop Bop)  My personal fav...hello velvet- it's been a little while!

(Windsor.) Navy sequins are so classic and the shoe and accessory possibilities are endless!

(Etsy.) If all else fails and you want to do something original and a little brave, go find a vintage tulle party dress and throw a leather
jacket over the top of it.

It doesn't really matter what you wear, as long as you feel good, confidence will make any ensemble look fantastic!
What was your favorite dress you wore to a school dance?

Hello hello!!  So it happened again…my life that is!  Here I am again bearing apologies for my absence as of late.  Between having sick children home all last week which meant living in my sweats, and a quick little get away to Vegas this past weekend, I really didn’t have anything of interest to throw on here.  I packed a bunch of fun pieces that I thought I was going to have good shots of from my little trip but we were having too much fun to play photo shoot.  This maxi skirt and striped sweater were a few of the things I didn’t wear on my trip that actually were completely climate appropriate today with the 70 degree sunny afternoon we had here today.  I was surprised how much the contrasting prints complimented each other (and the bright colored tree in the background too, haha!) and will for sure be pairing them up again with short booties and a denim jacket on a cooler temp day.

Our beautiful Birthday Girl! Love you Jaymie!!

So what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas right!?  Apparently this is so true because we literally took hardly any photos while there.  And if you knew my group…you would know how ironic that was, we take photos ANY chance we get!!  My quest for a white leather dress turned into a last ditch effort and I ended up with a fun red lace one similar to this one on Asos!  I decided to make a little collage of a few of the pics of me and my beautiful friends who all play a big part of inspiring me not only by their own styles, but even more so their amazing friendships.  I’m bummed we didn’t have more to show, there were several more ladies present who are not pictured that I would have loved to show you pictures of.  It was a great trip though and I love spending time with some of the most amazing people!!  Love you all!

Sweater: BP (spring clearance find); Tank: Abound; Liquid Leggings: Forever 21; Scarf: Infinity; Bag: Philip Lim/Target; Booties: Madden Girl (old) Bracelet: BP (old); Headband: Goody

Ever have those days where you just start throwing on random cute things sitting in your closet (or maybe your closet floor…) only to find that mayyyyyyyybe they don’t really quite work when put together?  Well folks, I think in this case I lucked out from beginning to end!  I literally have had these Madden Girl booties forever and they still go with just about anything and any outfit.  And a funny little story about these liquid leggings- I bought them back when they first became on trend to wear with a Halloween costume only to have made them a true wardrobe staple instead a few years before they were super popular.  Seriously, how cute are those zippers?  And because you should never walk out the door without adding at least one more accessory or three, out came my new arrow print scarf and the gold bar headband that I’ve been sporting frequently over the last few months.  They always say “less is more,” but I think in this case more totally wins!

Because I am infamous for jumping around a little from one subject to the next I thought I would share a little bit of that with those of you who don’t know me personally:  who watched the season premier of Beauty & The Beast last night?  This is all I got to say “UM HI!!!!!!” ;)

Ok, that’s what I got for ya today, have a wonderful Tuesday!
