On a whim.

Hey, hey!!

Every year around this time I start feeling that panicky countdown to the end of summer.  If  it wasn’t for all the family and friends living so close by (and the fact that its so beautiful and green here), I would’ve jumped ship for year round sunshine a long time ago.  Luckily for me, I had a fun event to attend last week to boost my spirts, Portland Fashion Week had their Fall Launch Party last week and I decided to attend all by my little self- something I don’t do very often!  I’m so glad I did, I got to chat with the director and co-founder, Jessica Kane, and several members of her amazing team!!  What a fantastic group of people, they are all so passionate about what they do and it is going to be an amazing event.

My outfit was a last minute purchase from Express.  I don’t go there often but had a return to make and found a bright floral skirt on clearance with an additional 40% off of that! Total purchase amount for the top and skirt was under $40 and I received tons and tons of compliments!  (The only drawback on high waist skirts on someone who has a short waist- is that they always tend to ride up a bit and so I was having to keep it tugged down all night).

I hope you all are making the most of these last days of summer….sigh.

I Believe.

I am about to admit a real life cliche about myself.  I am a believer!  Not just in your “rah-rah-rah, I believe in such and such” believer, but your stereotypical I’m still a little girl at heart, BELIEVER!  So, needless to say, a few weeks ago when I came across a t-shirt with unicorns all over it was a must have!  And since they happened to be reddish and blue, what better way to celebrate the 4th of July, since we all know that unicorns are totally patriotic… (C’mon, this is where that believing stuff I just got done talking about comes in!)

Have a fun weekend my lovely people!!

xoxo

Impulsive

Happy FRIDAY!! Hope wherever you are reading from that the weather is as amazing as it has been here in Portland. I don’t know anyone who loves summer as much as me! I have been sporting this Chambray shirt atleast once a week since I bought it a few years ago at Old Navy.  I have looked high and low for another one to have as an alternate but have yet to find one quite as soft, the right color, etc.  On this day I had pulled out this cute knit skirt that I impulsively snagged at Forever 21 for $5! For church that day I wore a dressier blouse but right after was rushing home to grab all the fixings for 6 costume changes for my kids’ recital photos later in that afternoon.  (Yikes…)  Anyways, I was planning on throwing on shorts and a tee for the afternoon, but the skirt was so comfy- that I opted for my trusty chambray shirt and a Fedora instead of a ponytail!  All ready to go for one of the longest afternoon’s EVER…

Moral of the story, this get up was super easy and can be worn dressed up or down for just about anything.

Thanks for reading and have a fantastic weekend!

xxoo

White Issues…

Lets be honest, we all in our own little lives have issues.  Mine come at me just like anyone else’s and oddly enough sometimes result in creative endeavors!  It was on a particularly strained morning several weeks ago, that one of my favorite tiny dancers walked into class wearing a white tee that said “More Issues Than Vogue.”  Ha!!!   The irony that that was exactly how I was feeling that morning resulted in a fairly round about purchase of an adult sized version of my sweet little muse’s shirt.  My online search showed several options but I am fairly picky about fit and was too impatient to wait for the mail.  So, off I went to the nearest Target to pick up a V-neck white tee which I then had screen printed at a kiosk in the mall.

I was so pleased with the final product that I decided what better way to show it off then at my birthday dinner with my best girlfriends.  White on white is one of my favorite trends this year and I recently picked up an amazing fitting pair of white cropped jeggings at the Gap.  Because I can never be without some pops of color, I opted for a royal blue blazer and my new melted lipstick by Too Faced which is my new fav!

Who knew life’s fussiness could result in such a fun fashion statement!?!  I highly recommend. ;)

P.S.  I love and miss you sweet little Harlow!!!

Catching Up…

So, we meet again!  For anyone wondering where the heck have my outfit posts been for the last several weeks, well all there is to say is that between moving, dance recital prep and end of the school year shenanigans…I just had a little too much on my plate to be able to keep this up at the same time. Forgive me!!;)  That being said, it is good to be back up and going again.

This dress I came across while at Marshalls when I was looking for rugs for the new house.  There is something about a boho maxi dress that just speaks to me, and on this particular day when I passed this amazing dress, I didn’t even hesitate to take it straight to check out.

I Do.

Most little girls dream about the day when they get to wear a princess dress and walk down the aisle to their handsome prince and into happily ever after!  I my lovely friends was one of those little girls, and though I have been married almost 10 years, even now I still peruse the latest and greatest in bridal fashion and anything that has to do with weddings.  Today a very special friend of mine is starting a new chapter in her life and so I I thought what better way to honor her big day then to dedicate today’s post to her and all of you bride to be’s!!

Pinterest is my favorite spot to get inspiration for anything from fashion to new recipes.  Here is what I have been pinning lately on my Wedding Board:

In my humble opinion, it’s all about the dress.
