Yesterday I posted some of my style pins off Pinterest that are currently inspiring me, one of which included a polka dot blouse that got some interest on my Instagram.  So it was only fitting that I shared my own outfit post with you today.  Polka dots are so easy to pull off.  My bestie ordered this  shirt dress from Old Navy online but decided after a few months with the tags still on it that it wasn’t for her…yay for me!!  I usually stay away from straight cut dresses because I have a short torso, but a belt and a faux fur speckled vest nipped in the waistline just right.  I don’t know how I missed the memo on fleeced tights til recently.  Tights have never been a favorite wardrobe essential, I know they are supposed to keep things sucked in and add a little extra polish- but I had yet to find a pair that was not only comfortable but cute too!   I found these at Marshalls when I was looking for stuff to take with me to wear in NYC.  I wish I would have known how much I was going to absolutely love them because I would have bought them all!!! (Especially at only $4.99 a pair!)  I literally wore them everyday in the city, LOVE them!  I wore this particular outfit to church but this look can easily be transitioned into a more casual deal with leggings and a scarf!

It’s Friday!!! I hope you all have a great weekend, thanks so much for stopping by!

To the rescue!!

Yesterday as I was productively perusing down my Facebook news feed, one of the most truly beautiful girls I know mentioned in a post that a large portion of her wardrobe consists of items bought from Costco!!  Now, I am not one to judge or discriminate- especially since probably a fourth of my closet comes from Target and Old Navy!  Haha!!  So while I have not looked too closely at Costco’s selection in the fashion department (because lets be honest, you know you all go their to eat the samples), I thought that I would help a pretty Mama of 4 out and giving her some helpful ideas for her busy lifestyle.

Have you all heard of Shopstyle.com?  They made finding a whole bunch of options in one place and at all different price points super easy!!

Just because you are cleaning up spills and doing after school pick-up, doesn’t mean you can’t have a little spice in your life.  I love mixing prints and pairing them with a couple of great basics.  Leopard and Polka Dots are the new basics in case you were wondering! ;)  As you will see, I couldn’t decide on the shoe options!!

A cardigan, white dress shirt and some colored skinnies are a comfortable way to look polished.  I don’t wear dress shirts very often so I might pair a long tunic underneath instead but adding a plaid scarf and riding boots will make you look polished.  I love this look because its chic and functionable!  I think the sweater I found is so cute with its peplum detail!!

This look could be changed up in so many ways and is dressy enough for church!  Again, adding some mixed up prints gives a little bit of edge along with a fun necklace.  You could even switch out the heels and tights for boots to go to lunch with your girlfriends.

In my humble little opinion, these are pieces that should be in any busy lady’s wardrobe.  Riding boots, black skinny pants and a great white tunic-tee.  No matter how many trends come and go, these will always be on trend!!

And for the days when its just a t-shirt, jeans and kicks kind of day, a baseball tee and a beanie are a great alternative to those old sweats! ;)  Beanies are also sneaky way to conceal unwashed hair, because lets face it…who really has time for a blow out every day!? NOT me!!!

To my darling friend (who I shall refrain from naming unless she chooses to comment), there is life outside of Costco!  I am here to lead the way Doll.

These days it seems like its the “thing” to have a team whether its college or professional.  Last weekend I got to head up to Seattle for a concert (have you ever heard of Justin Timberlake? EEK!!!!) and as some of you who follow football know (I am not one of those people), it was an exciting weekend for the city of Seattle and you could literally feel it in the air.  While I am not a die hard football fan, I have always been a loyal Trail Blazer fan.  I remember being around 9 or 10, I almost never missed watching a game unless it was against L.A.- then I’d have to walk up the street to my Grandparents’ house because my Daddy was a Laker fan and well, I will just leave it at that… ;)

This season is looking good for our Portland boys so far and and so it was only fitting when I saw this cute sweatshirt as I walked into Marshalls, that I needed to take it home with me to show my support for my home team!  I bought the jeggings from Express on Black Friday after seeing them on Cara Loren’s blog.  The stitched moto detailing is really fun and different which I LOVE! Wedge sneakers have become my go to alternative to Uggs  for running errands. (I also own a burgundy pair as seen here and here!)

How do you support your “Home” team?? Happy Tuesday!

Blouse: TJMaxx (Simlar); Vest: Forever21 (Limited availability in stores); Leggings: Express; Boots: Topshop; Purse: Target (Similar)

Do you ever see a piece of clothing when you are out shopping and think to yourself “wow that would look even better put on backwards?”  Well I didn’t either until I was combing through the racks at TJMaxx and found this blush toned blouse.  It was the only one left and a size too big but I had seen a similar one last year that I never ended up buying and had regretted it when it was no longer available.  I celebrated my best friends birthday last week with her and a bunch of our friends and decided the blouse should make its debut, only problem was that it was still a tad too big.  What to do?  Wear it backwards…cause that is the automatic solution when something doesn’t fit right??  Haha!  Well not exactly but it totally worked in this case!!

The vest I saw in New York and was still thinking about it after I got home.  You all know by now that I love faux fur layers, but this deep red one I thought was unique and has been so much fun pairing with different outfits.

Ok, can we talk about my new boots now?  I have been searching for the perfect pair of black over the knee boots for a very long time. I saw these beautiful Topshop ones on Nordy’s website and thankfully my sweet friend who works for the company was able to locate them for me because they were completely sold out.  They were worth every penny and I get asked at least once each time I wear them where I got them from.

Hope you all have a great start to your week!

We had about 5 minutes to shoot these pictures before we had to jump into the car to go to dance so I didn’t have a whole lot of variety to share.  But I decided to let you all in on a secret, my daily reality involves the following: school buses, teaching dance, dishes, laundry, diapers, baths, play dates, errands, meal prep, DRIVING (I almost live in my car a few days a week- literally), homework, more dishes, more laundry, you get the idea!  So my uniform of choice is as you see above and involves some variation of leggings, my broken in trusty Uggs, a cute sweatshirt and a hat so I don’t have to brush my hair if I don’t want to (or as is mostly the case- because I’m running late)!! While comfort plays a key role here, I try to incorporate at least one piece that stands out a bit. The swan sweatshirt is on regular rotation for just that purpose and adding a cute bag reminds me that I’m still just a girl who likes cute things!

Moral of today’s story: if you really do love me and my closet you gotta love the sweats too! For reals.

Have a great weekend, I’m off to celebrate with my nearest and dearest!  What are your plans?

P.S.  Since nobody else but me has any say in what I write about I wanted to give a shout out to some special ladies.  I am so very lucky to be blessed with all of the amazing friends that I have.  Four of the best ladies I know all have birthdays this week and in my book that is a big deal;).  There was no coincidence in why or when they came into my life and though I don’t get to see, talk to or hang out with them as much as I wish we could…I hope they know that no matter where life leads that they are important and will always be L.O.V.E.D by little ol’ me. You have each had your own part in shaping my life and so many amazing memories that I get to have forever.  Since I have too many of those to count (truly) I thought I would try to sum up to each of you one of my favorites as briefly as I can.  Here goes…. Yas: “Love Happens” – Jess: Messages in bottles – M: Two little girls on a card – De: Lincoln City.  I hope you each have the best year yet!! ~I love you~

Resolutions.

Well, well, well…it’s been a little while since last we met!  I’m sure you all are expecting the whole “the holidays threw me through a loop” song and dance but in all honesty…that’s what it was folks!!  For little ol’ me, 2013 truly ended with a bang if you will.  Between my kids school breaks, the annual Black Friday shopping trip shenanigans, getting my dance students ready for our holiday show AND flying off to NYC FOR 4 WHOLE DAYS (more on that laters!!), I had to take a little break.

I took these pictures just before Thanksgiving right before the weather truly turned friiiiigid cold for a few weeks.  There are few things better to me than a warm, fuzzy sweater.  While I prefer to be dressed for warmer temps, this ragdoll striped cowl neck sweater helped warm up the cold days and feel festive at the same time.  It was the perfect get up for Thanksgiving dinner with my family and kept me comfy for my all night shopping trip with my girlfriend (we decided to go to the mall in the middle of the night…haha)!

The holidays were packed so full this year that I had a hard time being able to just relax and enjoy because there was so much going on.  But I do have to say this, 2013 brought some amazing experiences to the table that I can check off my list!!  Starting this blog and being able to share one of my passions with whomever happens to stop by Cliche Moi has been so much more rewarding than I ever thought it would be.  I have so many plans and ideas for the blog in the New Year and I can hardly wait to share them with you all!  My trip to the Big Apple was completely a dream come true.  While being there to see all the magic that comes to the city during the Christmas season was so cool- I really am so eager to go back and see and do more of the not so touristy stuff (does NY Fashion week count as “touristy”?).  So stay tuned, because I’m already scheming my way back to one of the coolest places I’ve ever been!  I will share more of what all I saw and did on my trip in the upcoming weeks!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and are banking on those resolutions.  Thank you so much for the support, messages, comments and page visits.  I am so excited for what 2014 will bring.
