There comes a time in every girl’s life when the best news ever comes by the way of an announcement on Target’s website: 3.1 Phillip Lim!  Target teamed up with Phillip Lim which launched this past weekend and I was one of many who woke up early to get the pick of the crop at my local Target.  I missed out on the accessories because they weren’t out yet but I did snag the large black tote (that retails in the talented Mr. Lim’s house line for about $800)!  I also really loved the gold mini satchel but it was not available at the store by my house.  If you haven’t had a chance to check it out, you may have to look online as most of the retail stores have already been completely picked over!  The tote I got is currently sold out already online.  My outfit is a perfect combination of comfort and style, and totally functional for running errands with kids in tow…right?? Haha!  Well, maybe not so much my fab heels but one can indulge for a photo op!!
My photographer for the day was again my mini me, Amber.
Be sure to enter my giveaway for the Light-Up Lipgloss which ends on Friday.  Entry details are listed here.  Thanks for stopping by!

Good morning!  We officially are making headway with our school routine and my new schedule at the dance studio and I find myself SLACKING…big time!  By the time I get all the extra little ones who visit our house every day out the door and my own people taken care of it is 9pm and all I want to do is sit on the couch and watch TV and do nothing else.  No working out, no editing the blog, absolutely nothing.  Ugh!!
On Sunday we woke up to gray gloom and rain. Double ugh!!!  It wasn’t exactly chilly out though so I decided to get at least one more wear out of this mint and cream stripe maxi.  The short sleeved taupe sweater and boots kept it toned down and because I had yet to wear this mint infinity scarf the entire summer I threw that on for good measure too.  (Though I really did feel a bit too matched-up, I am in a not wanting to be matching phase these days).
I had a special guest photographer, my cute little- though not so little- anymore ;( 8 year old daughter, Amber, played fashion photographer with me out in front of our house and snapped these of me!!!  Not too bad right?  She is my most fashion conscious of all three of my girlies and is always fun to take shopping with me.  Love you baby!
Have a great Tuesday and don’t forget to enter my Giveaway for the Light-Up Lip-gloss…..I’m seriously excited about it so go show me how much you love me. Ha!!

Glitz you up! Giveaway time!!

Hello friends!! Sorry for the lack of posts the last few days.  I was trying to enjoy what was probably our last round of warm sunny days around here for the year.

So I have had some requests about what makeup and skin care products I use so I hope you will indulge me a little today!;).

My everyday makeup routine is fairly basic since we have a hectic schedule most days.  For skincare I am a die hard Artistry junkie. Their anti-aging products are the BEST. You can check them out here.  On lazy days or if I'm in a hurry, I am also a fan of the Target brand facial cleansing wipes. For makeup my every day favorites are:

makeup

-Too Faced Beauty Balm in Cream Glow.  I prefer tinted moisturizers over foundations for day wear and this one is hands down my favorite right now. It has great coverage but also moisturizes and protects.

-NYX HD Photogenic Concealer.  I have used a concealer since I was in 7th grade and while there are a lot of good ones out there, this little baby is only $4.99 and is AMAZING! I wear it in Beige, it's a good in between shade even with tan skin.

-ELF Bronzer/Sun Kissed. I stopped using tanning beds a few years ago and have embraced the world of sunless tanning and bronzers. I saw this one by ELF at Target several years ago and have been using it ever since.

-Ulta Blush/Sweet Cheeks. I have several colors of blush but this one is the perfect cross of a peachy-pink and subtly brightens my face.

-Stila Eye shadow/Kitten. This eye shadow is the best shimmer gold shade! It's not over powering and I apply this to my lids and also use it as a highlighter.

-NYX Skinny Marker/Black. Love this liquid eye pen, it has a felt tip which makes applying almost full proof.

-Maybelline Cat Eye Mascara/Black.  I have a few different mascaras that I rotate with but I have been using this one the most lately. The applicator wand is just the right size for my fine lashes and makes them look full and long!

lipgloss

-And my favorite product of the moment is Artistry Light-Up Lip-gloss/Glitzy. I am a bit of a lip-gloss freak. I have a bazillion of them from several different brands. Artistry came out with the mother of all of them though. Not only does it have its own built in mirror, but the applicator has little led lights that make applying in a dark car or wherever so easy. Genius!! Glitzy is my favorite, what girl doesn't love pink lip-gloss? ;)  Fun Fact: It is also the favorite of the Miss America organization!

These are my everyday favorites right now and I wanted to share with one lucky reader a Glitzy Light Up Lip-gloss! Yay!! Here is how to enter my first giveaway:

Tee: Old Navy Vintage (old); Skirt: Old Navy (unavailable); Sandals: Ann Taylor Loft; Fedora: BP; Watch: Michael Kors

Well as I mentioned a few weeks ago, I tend to go through different phases when it comes to fashion.  Sometimes there are even a few different going on at the same time.  I would say right now I am definitely in a bright blue phase.  The color has been all over the runways and Fall lookbooks and I for one LOOOOOVE it!  We are having record breaking warm weather for this time of year in the Northwest and so I decided that my favorite light weight peacock vintage tee that I got from Old Navy forever ago and my cornflower blue maxi (also purchased from Old Navy last spring) would help me beat the heat as best I could.  And how cute is this fedora?  I truly find any excuse to wear this hat and today it kept the sunny day off my face!

Here are a few True Blue pieces I have my eyes on right now:

Dress: Asos; Clutch: Clare Vivier; Bootie: Sole Society; Necklace: Stella & Dot

Hope everyone is enjoying this Indian Summer weather….lets cross our fingers it will stick around for a bit.  Be sure to check back tomorrow for my very first GIVEAWAY! ;)

Top: h.i.p. clothing (old); Boyfriend Crop Jean: 7 for All Mankind (Nordstrom/old); Shoes: Nine West; Necklace: Forever 21; Watch: Michael Kors

It is pretty evident to anyone who has been in my closet that I have a thing for stripes.  When me and my little ladies were school shopping I gravitated towards anything that was striped even for them. I really loved the contrasting colors of this top when I spotted it at Nordstrom Rack last spring.  The slim boyfriend cut crop jeans are by 7 For All Mankind and have made good use of themselves this summer whether it was walking around at the beach or running errands around town.  I literally could wear them everyday!

When I was trying to figure out how to style and accessorize this particular outfit I came to a realization, you can almost never have enough accessories and mine- with the exception of scarves- have become a little on the sparse side.  Of course I say that when the flower statement necklace I threw on last minute still had tags on it. (I don’t even remember when I bought it!!)  In any case, accessorizing is probably the most important part of defining your style and making an outfit you are on the fence about really WORK!! For those of you who asked, the lipgloss I was wearing on my last post as well as this one is called Strawberry Parfait by NYX in their butter gloss.  I literally want one in every color, I got mine at Ulta.

What is your favorite way to accessorize?  Hope you all are enjoying this Indian Summer that has come our way.  I hope it lasts for a bit longer!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Double life.

3 Sweater: Old; Bermuda Shorts: AEO; Bag: Steve Madden; Boots: Target

It is difficult some days to not feel like a bit of a washed-out Mama!  Most days you will find me in workout clothes, little makeup and hair that is usually a day or two past needing to be washed (sorry, its true).  And then after a few days of that nonsense, the fog lifts and I pull it together realizing how much I love some of the neglected items I have in my closet.  While my shoes of choice would be my favorite pumps with my white jeans, reality for a Saturday filled with dance classes, cleaning and errands calls for something less likely to be thrashed from little hands.  Are you leading a double life too??

Have a great Monday!

Friday Lust-List

I don’t know about any of you but this mama is ready for the weekend.  The first week of the new school year has slowly made its way to Friday and I am anticipating sleeping in past 7am for a few days…in theory (the 3 little ladies who live with me don’t always know what sleeping in means)!  Today’s post is going to be short and sweet but I wanted to take a second to thank you all for stopping in and checking out my page over the last couple of weeks.  I’m really excited about some of the projects coming up so stay tuned!!

Here are just some of the items currently on my lust list.  Philip Lim is collaborating with Target this month and I am itching to get my hands on the black tote which will be retailing for about $800 less than its full priced counterpart! True story.  I’ve also picked out a few pieces from my friend’s jewelry line: Jill Michael Jewelry.  It is so hard for me to pick a favorite, I seriously love everything she makes! (Love you pretty lady).  My infatuation with leather continues, especially white leather which happens to be hard to find if you don’t want it to look like something from Rave (is that store even still around?)

Leather Cap Sleeve Vest: Mural/Nordstrom's; Tank: Soprano; Skirt: Leith; Heels: Prabal Garung

Did you know that a metallic pencil skirt goes with everything?  That is what I told myself when I was trying it on in the fitting room at Nordy’s.  What I really had in mind was “metallic skirt + leather vest + Bruno Mars concert = Perfect!”  I had yet to pull out the Prabal Garung patent lace up heels that I snagged out off of a Target clearance shelf (don’t ever pay full price at Target) and was excited to pair them up.  This leather vest has been one of my most favorite purchases this summer, in fact leather in general has been on my mind in spite of the warmer temperatures. Luckily for me it is everywhere right now!  At the moment I am on the hunt for a white leather dress- because just like my skirt, a white leather dress goes with everything.;)

As I mentioned yesterday, I spent part of Sunday evening with my sweet pal and fellow blogger Candida of Merch Maven.  These photos were taken at our old middle school where we met and became friends in 6th grade.  (I think she has a career in photography if she wants one!  <3 you C!!!)

What would you wear with metallics?

Thanks for taking some time to stop in and see my latest and greatest!  Happy Thursday.

Jacket: Old/DIY; Pants: Kohls (no longer available); Clutch: AEO; Watch: Michael Kors; Shades: H&M; Wedges: Target (on clearance)

I have always loved red things: red shoes, red liptstick, red dishes, red dresses- you get the picture.  When I wear red, there is a little extra spring in my step.
We were on a mission to find some white dress shoes for my daughter when I came across these palazzo pants.  I had not ventured into this trend yet and rather than opting for a more classic print, I decided to make the dive and claim these attention grabbing red ones.  What do you wear with something this busy?? My most favorite ensemble with these this summer has been a mustard colored crop with a white layered tank and a red bubble statement necklace. But  then I remembered that I had recently repurposed this cute denim jacket into a short sleeve version which is how this outfit came to be. (Genius! Merch Maven is where I got this DIY idea from!!)  I really liked the more simple and fitted contrast between the two pieces making it a little bit more classic but not detracting from how fun these pants really are.
My old pal Candida, who is the fashionista of Merch Maven, took these pictures of me over the weekend.  It was so fun catching up with this beautiful lady and the evening went by quickly with all our shop and fashion talk (as well as everything else, I can talk the phone book)!  Can’t wait to show you some of the other ones we took that day as well.  Go check out her blog here.  Next time I go for a visit, I am taking a picture inside her shoe closet…best shoes ever!!
Have a great Wednesday!
xxoo,

Update: The pants are actually still available and can be found on clearance here (http://www.kohls.com/product/prd-1353833/mudd-palazzo-pants-juniors.jsp)  Go get them!

Dishonest and Paisley…

You know that saying “honesty is the best policy…”  I walked into American Eagle at the recommendation of a friend to try on their white skinny jeans when I saw these paisley jeggings hanging on what was most likely a “Holds” bar towards the back of the store.  I hadn’t seen any quite like them before and decided that since there was no name attached to them (yet) that it was no big deal if I just slipped them off of their hanger and tried them on.  A few minutes later they were purchased and walking out of the store in my shopping bag and have been paired up with multiple items from my closet all summer long.  I do feel bad for the person I snagged them away from but not enough that I would have left that store without them.  I wore this ensemble out to dinner with friends from out of town. The top also seen here has been a favorite this season and has literally more than paid for itself in wear since I got it off the clearance rack.  I opted for flat gold ballet flats since walking on the streets of downtown Portland is not comfortable in heels- especially for a low key evening.
Tomorrow is my munchkins first day of school…goodbye for now Summer.  We’ll always have Paisley!
What has been your favorite thing to wear this summer??
